Thamesview Golf Centre

Located in North Thamesmead, Thamesview Golf Centre (TVGC) offers a nine hole course, driving range, golf shop, clubhouse facilities and free parking.

Whether you want to play, practice or learn how to play golf, you will always be welcome at TVGC.

Open to all on a pay-and-play basis, booking is only required at weekends. Golf clubs and trolleys are available for hire.

Thamesmead Town Angling Club

Thamesmead Town Angling Club (TTAC) fish at Gallions Lake in West Thamesmead and at Birchmere, sun-up to sun-down and at just £6 per session for one rod, £10 per session for two rods.

A junior section is also available. TTAC can also offer tuition with their fully qualified instructors.

Please note, fish must be returned to the lake once caught.

Although the parks, open spaces and riverside pathways make this area a haven for fitness junkies who want to jog, run, walk and cycle, for those who want to go that extra mile Thamesmead also boasts its own leisure centre which was built by Trust Thamesmead and then transferred to Greenwich Council.

Thamesmere Leisure Centre offers a fantastic range of activities for groups, families and individuals and includes a swimming pool, gym and personal fitness programmes. A member of the Government's Swim4Free scheme.

Thames Moorings Boxing Club
4:30-5:30pm every Wednesday.

Learn the basics of amateur boxing in seven stages preliminary awards Assessment A certificate on completion.

A fun recreational programme for participants of all ages, gender and ability. The prelimnary award is designed to promote a fit and healthy lifestyle with increased self esteem and confidence.

Registration fee £30 for the eight week course and an awards certificate.

Family Action Thamesmead
Family Action Thamesmead Talking Point is a service based in Thamesmead which provides support to families living in the borough of Greenwich.

By talking things through you can work together to seek solutions to the difficulties you are experiencing.

The service works with children aged 9-16 years old and their families who:

Experience severe difficulties in their relationships and ability to cope with stress

Are at risk of family breakdown

Struggle with parenting isues and life challenges

Are rebuilding themselves after traumatic events

Family Action Thamesmead Talking Point also deals with issues relating to separation or other types of loss and children's emotional and behavioural difficulties such as relating to peers at school or having low self-esteem.


They also work with families who are living with the impact of mental ill-health. They can help both parents and children to:

Increase their confidence and self-esteem

Understand mental illness and how it affects them and their family

Express their thoughts and feelings

Establish daily routines

Access the services they need

Resolve practical difficulties

Achieve their potential


They also offer mediation between family members, conflict between young people at school or in their neighbourhood or conflict between neighbours.

Hoop Hoop Hooray

Hoop dance; hooping, hulaerbocis and hula hooping is the artistic movement of dancing with a hula hoop. Open to all ages, perform skills and tricks using the whole of your body, improving core strength, core stability, stamina, coordination, balance and posture whilst burning up to 100 calories every minute!

Beginning Sunday 30 May 2010 and running 3:30-5:30pm every last Sunday of the month.
