Boris Johnson is supporting two major new housing zones in Thamesmead with a proposed investment of more than £80m.
The zones, in the London Borough of Bexley and Royal Borough of Greenwich, will deliver nearly 3,000 new homes to rent and buy, create thousands of jobs, and improve the local environment.
The bid was led by the local authorities in partnership with us, and will support our £225m initial investment and act as a catalyst for further regeneration.
The decision will see Thamesmead benefit from Greater London Authority (GLA) finance, simplified planning processes, and a partnership with a named developer to accelerate construction.
