Calling all former school pupils of Riverside School in Thamesmead who attended 1976-1978!
Trust Thamesmead is working with Business Academy Bexley and former Thamesmead resident and Riverside School (now Business Academy Bexley) teacher and amateur photographer George Plemper, who captured Riverside pupils during 1976-1978, by arranging for his photographs to be exhibited at the Business Academy Bexley Wednesday 28-Friday 30 May - which will follow an evening, ticket only reception on Tuesday 27 May.
We would like as many former pupils to get in touch as possible, who would be both interested in attending the event and providing testimonials about their time at Riverside.
Perhaps they were one of many photographed by George or perhaps a friend or family member attended?
Trust Thamesmead's Marketing and Communications Officer Julia Hickson said: “George Plemper's photographs are fantastic, striking black and white images of pupils who attended Riverside in the 70's and will be accompanied in the ‘Now and Then - School Days Through a Lens' by photos he took of the Queen attending the Queen's Jubilee celebrations in Thamesmead and the local area.
“The exhibition ties in perfectly with Local and Community History Month, as well as the 40th anniversary of the first family moving to Thamesmead.
"It will be fantastic to arrange a school reunion for pupils. You never know, we may even be able to recreate some of the photos.”
As well as getting excited about the past, the exhibition fits in very well with Business Academy Bexley's large, permanent photo exhibition which is displayed in the school's reception area and features photos of all the pupils who have joined the BAB since 2003.
The pictures will be varied and George will be on hand to give a talk, followed by a question and answer session at the BAB on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 May.
Thamesmead residents and former Riverside school pupils who would like to share their memories or attend the exhibition should contact Mary at Trust Thamesmead by Monday 12 May, E: email@example.com
