Thamesmead's indoor climbing wall The cAve celebrated its fifth birthday on Saturday and what a turn out! Around 100 people, many of them Thamesmead residents attended throughout the day, to help celebrate!
With 1.5 hours worth of climbing per attendee, a DJ, cake, an arts and crafts table and face painting on offer, it really was a day to remember!
The cAve's Manager Ann Beard said: “After all the hard work it was wonderful to celebrate the success of the cAve. The day was brilliant, the young people climbed alongside adults and everyone had fun helping us blow out the candles on the cake.
“The staff and volunteer helpers also enjoyed their day, not only helping the visitors to climb but also judging various competitions.”
Vice Chair of Trust Thamesmead Ted Claridge said: “The cAve's 5th birthday party was a huge success. The number of adults and young people who attended was amazing. It truly was a great occasion.”
“Our group enjoyed their visit immensely.” 13th Woolwich Cub Scouts leader.
“A well organised activity and great for both the kids and as a family activity. Super staff; friendly, kind, motivated and the whole place is clean, well kept and organised. Great job!” Anon
Just some of the answers filled in on the questionnaire form asking why visitors would go back to The cAve: “Because it is fun.”, “To complete my climbing badge.”, “Because I love climbing!”, “It is the best!”
5th Abbey Wood Brownies and Rainbows provided the face painting at 50p a time and raised £30 for their group.
Birthday party invitations which were sent have also encouraged group bookings; both GCSE school bookings and other organised group bookings and birthday parties.
