United Nations Calls On Sam

The Trust's Head of Finance, Sam Karuhanga, has been appointed to a senior volunteer role at the United Nations.

He has been asked to serve on the Independent Audit and Oversight Committee (IAOC) of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

The Committee's role is to advise the High Commissioner and the Executive Committee on oversight issues including external and internal audit, internal controls, evaluation and risk management.

The Committee will meet four times a year with two of the sessions being held over three days in Geneva.

Sam told Trust Talk: “I was very keen to take on this voluntary role, especially as it is to do with supporting refugees; a cause I have supported for over 20 years in the UK. I have always admired UNHCR for its role in providing relief and protection to millions of refugees worldwide.”
Trust Chief Executive Mick Hayes said: “We are all very proud of Sam and this appointment speaks volumes about his character and personal values“.
