Supporting the Thamesmead Community

Community Development

The Trust's Community Development team provides practical support to a range of community groups in Thamesmead including the provision of community space, finance and training. Community Development is a process that can only be successful with the full participation of the community, and it is the role of the Community Development Team to engage with all Thamesmead communities to enable them to access premises, funding and other networking opportunities.

The Community Development Team also works with the Trust's tenants to agree development plans which can include services such as auditing accounts, setting up finance systems, health & safety, public relations & marketing and human resources advice.

Community Services

The Trust's Community Services team looks after services provided directly by the Trust and those that the Trust commissions or supports in other ways. These include the Trust's Building Futures project which is part funded by the London Development Agency.

Building Futures is a one-stop shop approach to effective recruitment and job searching. It offers specific training packages customised to suit your individual needs and provides access to all available vacancies through our job brokerage service. It also gives you the opportunity to access IT training through our UK Online service. Building Futures also works with local employers to up-skill and train their workforces.

The Community Services team also looks after the Trust's Childcare Services and the Cave Climbing Wall Centre.
