Litter Picking Project

The Greenwich Community Safety Team attended Trust Thamesmead's Arnott Pre-school on Wednesday 23 March, to run a litter picking exercise and explained the impact dropping litter has on wildlife and the local area.

Arnott Pre-school Leader, Claire Latham said: “Children, parents and staff all took part in the clean-up and really enjoyed it.

“It was fun and interesting for everyone as we picked up plastic, paper and tin cans then separated them into bags for recycling.”

The clean-up was the start of a bigger partnership project between Bexley and Greenwich Councils and Trust Thamesmead, with Bexley and Greenwich's joint funding project giving the Trust a litter picking kit and training in health and safety, so they can work with residents, community groups, traders and others in litter picking events in the future, to help keep Thamesmead clean.

If you live, work or volunteer in Thamesmead and would like to work with the Trust on a litter picking project, please get in touch with our Community Development Team,
