Thamesmead Youth Voice (TYV) is planning a residential, which will take place at Bewl Outdoor Water Centre in Lamberhurst, Kent, over the weekend of 16 November.
The aim of the residential is to bring a diverse group of Thamesmead's young people together and equip them with the information and skills necessary for them to become peer mentors and work with Youth Providers on developing a 12 month youth activities action plan for Thamesmead.
The intended outcomes are for participants to improve their skills and obtain information in communication and negotiation, planning and evaluation as well as learning about their rights and responsibilities and so much more.
Trust Thamesmead Community Development Manger, Janice Songhurst-Jones said: "The participants are very excited about their trip and have risen to the challenge set for them, which requires each member of the Thamesmead Youth Voice to engage with 20 of their peers each week, for the next few weeks, to find out what their issues are and what they want to see in Thamesmead. Thamesmead Youth Voice members will receive accreditation through Act by Right for their work on this project."
Thamesmead Youth Voice is open to 11-19 year old who live or go to school in Thamesmead. They meet 5:30-7:30pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month at Trust Thamesmead, 19a Joyce Dawson Way, Thamesmead Town Centre. Call 020 8320 4470, text 07980 241384 or email Janice: [email protected]
