Trust Thamesmead's 2008 T Factor winner, performer at this year's Trust Thamesmead Community Festival and Thamesmead resident Annastasia Baker made it through to the final 24 of ITV1's X Factor. She may have bowed out of the show at the weekend; Cheryl Cole and Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud were only allowed to choose four of the six 14-24 year old girls who they saw perform at an exclusive villa in Cannes, South of France. Annastasia said: “Cannes was excellent, really good fun!
“I learnt a lot about myself and the industry whilst at The X Factor,” she said. “I met lots of new people and I realised after seeing Simon say I have a great voice that I do have talent.”
Annastasia not only appeared in The X Factor but brought The Xtra Factor to Thamesmead, which saw her filming her every day business in Thamesmead's nail bar and in Wilkinsons.
“I wish the final 12 all the luck in the world,” Annastasia said. “I would really like JLS to win the competition - a group has never won The X Factor before and I don't think there has ever been a boy band that has stood out as much as them - they have the looks, the personality and the voices!”
So what's next for Annastasia? “I am on maternity leave from Nobu (celeb restaurant) and I gave up my place on a Vocal Technician course to take part in The X Factor - I was three months into the course, so I am going to return to complete the final six months, gig and work on my performance and then reapply for next year's X Factor; I want to go back and take it further than I could this year.”
Somehow we don't think we've heard the last of Annastasia.
