With the annual Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival just days away excitement is reaching fever pitch, so we though we would send you a brief overview of what residents can expect on the day.
We can announce that a Dean Martin impersonator has been added to the Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival main stage line-up. This means the main stage schedule differs slightly to that featured in the festival programme.
Beginning with the community festival parade, the 400-strong participants will be walking carnival style from Hawksmoor Youth Club at 9:30am to Birchmere Park where they will arrive around 10:00am to parade around the park before taking part in a fashion show on the community platform at 10:30am for the start of the main stage which now reads:
11:00am The T Factor Final
12:20pm La Joaquina (flamenco act)
12:55pm The Music Messiahs Band (African band)
1:40pm High Skool Musicool
2:15pm Take That 2
3:00pm ***Just added*** Alan Beck as a tribute to Dean Martin and the Legends of Swing ***Just added***
3:35pm Laura White (ITV1's The X Factor)
4:20pm The T Factor winner
4:50pm The Great Pretender with Brian Rock and the HRH Band (Queen tribute)
There will be an Activity and Wellbeing Zone featuring various community groups, a climbing wall and a community platform.
A Trust Thamesmead marquee, telling people we don't just do festivals! You will see for yourself the fantastic multi-million pound projects we are bringing to Thamesmead, as well as providing information regarding the services we offer to Thamesmead residents and then there is the farm! For the first time ever, the festival will feature lots of animals for people to touch and stroke.
And that's not all! There will be community stalls, a Children's Zone, Water Activity Zone, a party tent and marquees belonging to Greenwich Council's Talk Café and Chocolate Films.
A big thank you goes to the sponsors of this year's Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival: Axis Europe Plc, Bexley Council, Gallions Housing Association, Greenwich Council, London City Airport and Tilfen Land; without you the day would not be possible.
