The Thamesmead and Abbey Wood Branch of the Royal British Legion has presented Trust Thamesmead with a plaque in recognition and thanks for the work the community development agency is doing with them and for its commitment of help and support to the local community.
In recent years the Trust and the Legion have worked together on a number of projects including Armed Forces Day, the Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival, providing venues for the annual Poppy Appeal and linking them in with other community groups.
Handing over a plaque to Trust Thamesmead Vice Chair Ted Claridge Branch President Sam Batty said the award was not only for the valued support the Legion had received from the Trust but for the work it is doing in the wider community and for the difference it is making in Thamesmead.
Mr. Claridge said he was very proud indeed to receive the award on behalf of the Trust and that recognition from the local community was priceless.
The Thamesmead and Abbey Wood Branch of the Royal British Legion meets on the third Tuesday of every month at the Birchwood Public House in Grovebury Road where landlords Martin and Jane guarantee a very warm welcome. For more information about the branch call 020 8855 7129.
