We are excited to announce Trust Thamesmead has received the keys to The Link Thamesmead, with a view of opening to the public on Monday 1 October.
Mark said: “After a long wait we are finally in a position to do something very special for and with the young people and the community of Thamesmead. The Link will be a place where young people can gain personal achievements, take responsibility and show leadership skills in their community, as well as a place they can have lots of fun!”
Richard Fishlock, who has led the development of The Link since the feasibility study was published in 2006, said he is thrilled to finally see the centre open. “It's been a long time coming but the wait has definitely been worth it. Stepping inside The Link and wandering around the various arches brings a smile to your face, and I can't wait to see Thamesmead's young people and the wider community coming along and sharing our pride in this fantastic new resource”.
Mick said: “We promised something world class for Thamesmead's young people now we are determined to deliver to that level of aspiration.”
To coincide with the handover, we have also launched The Link Thamesmead's official website, where you can find out more about The Link itself and the providers, activities and opportunities that will be available when we are open to the public: www.thelinkthamesmead.co.uk
Please note we will be offering amazing, state-of-the-art spaces for hire which will be ready and waiting to welcome you and your guests to The Link, should you wish to hold a meeting, training or conference.
We thank everyone for their support during the first phase of the build and look forward to welcoming you through the doors from 1 October.
As well as opening our doors from 1 October, building work is taking place to complete phase two, which will see the expansion of Thamesmead Gym and Charlton Athletic Community Trust opening to the public in spring 2013.
