Great news for local fitness fanatics and those taking the first steps to a fitter life – Thamesmead Gym has just opened the doors to its new look premises at The Link, Thamesmead’s fantastic new community hub at Harrow Manor Way.
After 30 years of running out of one arch space the Gym has expanded into two purpose built arches and is now open during the day as well as weekday evenings, offering a diverse range of fitness equipment and activities to the community. Thamesmead Gym has always offered a warm welcome to old and new users alike, providing bespoke fitness programmes and healthy living advice along the way.
The development of The Link provided the Gym’s members with a tremendous opportunity to expand its offer, creating a modern affordable community gym for all residents regardless of their fitness levels. The new premises boast a range of new free weights, resistance and cardio-vascular equipment, as well as an area for mats-based exercise. For the first time the Gym offers modern male and female changing facilities, a new reception desk selling drinks, clothing and personal equipment and flat screen TVs throughout the centre.
Users can take advantage of low cost charges for one off sessions or monthly memberships, and Gym staff are happy to arrange inductions and personal programmes. Moving forward, Thamesmead Gym aims to grow its programme of referrals from local GP surgeries, offer tailor-made activities for young mums and provide equipment specifically designed for use by disabled people.
