Trust Thamesmead has been working in partnership with Thamesmead Extended Schools, Gallions Housing Association, Discovery Primary School and Greenwich Community College in a programme of events which continues to take place throughout the summer.
Ten events have taken place to date including a ‘Welcome Day' which took place in Birchmere Park on 29 July, advising residents of all of the free forthcoming events which are taking place throughout the school holiday, which includes storytelling, mask making, model making, puppet making and floating sculpture events.
Other activities which have already taken place include a canal clean-up at Manor Close in association with Trust Thamesmead, Bexley Community Safety Partnership and Thames 21 and a celebratory Play Day co-ordinated by Gallions Housing Association and Trust Thamesmead to tie-in with the national event, both of which were tremendous successes. Trust Thamesmead's Community Development Officer Linda Delieu said: “We wanted to work as a collective and give something to the residents of Thamesmead to do throughout the school summer holidays.
“Every event we have laid on so far has been well attended and it has given us the chance to engage with residents, sign post them to various service providers, including our training and employment department Building Futures and have lots of fun in the sun.”
