Thamesmead Town Ladies Football Club is looking forward to a bright future with a new kit that has been donated by Trust Thamesmead; the only community development agency working exclusively in Thamesmead and which is currently developing a new home for Thamesmead Town Football Club (TTFC) within Sporting Club Thamesmead, a new multi-million pound community sports hub.
The Trust's Head of Community Services Dawn Young said: “It is our aim to really help women's and girls' football to grow in Thamesmead and Sporting Club Thamesmead will give us that opportunity with its great facilities.”
Shaf Mohamed manages the Ladies at TTFC. He said: “Our Ladies team has made fantastic progress. This season we will finish in the top three of our league which is amazing considering we have a very small squad and the fact that we lost almost every game last season. Next season we will be continuing in the Under 18's league and hopefully that will be our season for trophies, more players and even more passion; never say never!”
“Our players are really enthusiastic and we would love more to join us. As well as our current team we want to increase the age range to welcome younger girls especially when Sporting Club Thamesmead opens and there are more facilities for us to grow ladies football further.”
Keith McMahon is the manager of the men's first team at TTFC. He said: “Ladies football is very new to TTFC and Thamesmead as a whole. Shaf and his team have worked very hard indeed to achieve what they have with such limited resources.”
