Trust Thamesmead featured on national website

Trust Thamesmead has been complimented by Thamesmead's YMCA Sailing Centre, as to why they can afford to offer sailing courses to local young people at such good prices. This compliment was discovered on the Royal Yachting Association website.

“We are supported by Trust Thamesmead who rent us (at a reduced rate) our premises so we have little maintenance/upkeep costs,” said George Reynolds OBE. “Also we have a large number of people who volunteer their time as instructors, safety boat drivers, and maintain our fleet of boats, not to mention the parents who come to help out and support us in our efforts to get young people on the water.”

Trust Thamesmead supports the Thamesmead YMCA Sailing Centre to provide accredited training to local youngsters, leadership courses, and financial support for their volunteer activities. This support is in the form of a discount on their rent.

In May the sailing centre on Southmere Lake was presented with eight new dinghies to meet the growing demand for its sailing courses.
