Thousands of residents across north Bexley are set to endure more than a year of roadworks and disruption as nearly 10 miles of ageing water pipes are replaced.
A multi-million pound project to replace pipes that are more than a century old and continually burst and cause leakages, started today and are set to last for 14 months.
The affected area will include Belvedere Road, Harrow Manor Way, Wilton Road, Abbey Road, New Road, Yarnton Way and Hartslock Drive. The mains owned by Thames Water, supply more than 2,300 homes.
Although some residents will have to cope using bottled water while their supply is cut off, the company says the short-term disruptions are for long-term projects. (Bexley Extra)
