There's something for everyone in Thamesmead with around 100 community groups meeting on a regular basis, offering everything from sport, faith and education to residents of all ages and ability.

Bronze Age settlers, Romans, Normans, monks, kings, soldiers, sailors and convicts - have all played their part in the history of Thamesmead.

Thamesmead has many beautiful open spaces, lakes and parks. Some of London's most important nature areas, including Crossness Nature Reserve are right on our doorstep.

Building work in Thamesmead first started taking place in1967 and the first family moved to Thamesmead in 1968, which made us look at this relatively new town on old marshes.
