Trust Thamesmead and Tilfen Land supported Gallions Housing Association on Monday in a We Love Green day event, which saw staff members out in Thamesmead Town Centre, engaging with residents.
Gallions Housing Association's Marketing Officer Roger Charles said: "In just under three hours approximately 150 members of the public visited our information point obtaining tips on how to save energy and be green, as well as details about future canal clean-ups and other events they can take part in."
Visitors were also encouraged to 'make a pledge' by visiting Gallions new website www.welovegreen.co.uk which is aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and providing a forum for sharing ideas.
Gallions mascot, Max the Lion was also on hand to provide a little light entertainment for the kids whilst their parents took a look at what was on offer.
Gallions Housing Association's Communications Manager, Emma Turner said: "This was such a huge success; we might be doing it again next year. It was great to see so many people showing such interest in the environment."
Whilst Trust Thamesmead's Marketing and Communications Officer, Julia Hickson said: "Trust Thamesmead promotes residents taking ownership and responsibility for their part of Thamesmead; Gallions We Love Green website is a fantastic idea and we hope the day encourages residents to log online and make a pledge." Adding "The day was also an ideal opportunity for us to promote the Trust Thamesmead/Thames21 canal clean-ups which will be taking place in August, as well as the Thamesmead Extended Schools Summer Fun Days. We hope to see you there!"
