The Scouts are looking for adult volunteers in the area of Thamesmead.
With the youth population of Thamesmead growing, the Greater London Authority predicts that the Scout-age population (6-18 years) will grow by 8.7% by 2012 and by 37.6% by 2018.
Despite this, there is little Scouting provision in the area, with just one group; 2nd Thamesmead Scouts meeting every Friday during term-time at 6:00-7:30pm (Beavers for 6-8 year olds) and 7:30-9:00pm (Cubs for 8-10 year olds) at Manor Close Community Centre, 40 Manor Close, Thamesmead, SE28 8EY.
Local and regional Scouting is seeking to develop new groups in Thamesmead to provide challenges and adventures for young people, in partnership with Trust Thamesmead and the local community.
If you are interested in helping to run activities, having a laugh and making new friends, learning new skills and gaining qualifications whilst building on your self confidence and giving something back to your community, then get in touch! You don't have to work with young people or wear a uniform but they need your help to make this work!
Drop in and find out more 7:00-9:00pm on Thursday 26 August at Jubilee Community Centre | Lytton Strachey Path | off Titmuss Avenue | Thamesmead | SE28 8DU or call Nasna Yeahya 07983 581503 or email [email protected] or telephone Charlotte Spear 07943 869885 or email her [email protected]
