The youngest-ever winner of the Trust Thamesmead design-a-Christmas card competition was revealed last night (Tuesday 28 November).
Tiny tot Nifemi Agbebi (3), who attends the Trust's Arnott pre-school, was presented with her prize by the Trust's Chief Executive Mick Hayes as the Christmas lights were switched on in the town centre.
Mr Hayes said: “Arts and crafts play an important role in early learning so this year we decided to set the children the challenge of designing our Christmas card. We were overwhelmed by the results as there were some really wonderful entries to choose from.
“The competition also gave us the opportunity to raise the profile of our pre-schools, both of which offer top quality child care.”
Nifemi and two runners-up, Idelisa Simpson (3), also from Arnott pre-school and Wajid Ali Khan (3) from Acorn Pre-school, received framed copies of their designs and arts and crafts sets. Nifemi also received a box of the cards bearing her design to send to her family and friends.
The winning card will now be sent to the Trust's partners, service providers and community groups; all of who will now know Nifemi's name and see her work.
