The number of people signing up for a free Trust ‘Access Thamesmead’ card has almost reached 1,000 with more people joining every week and for one lucky young man there’s been an added benefit.
The Access Thamesmead card is your key to the fantastic activities and events hosted at The Link Thamesmead and our new sports and community hub Sporting Club Thamesmead.
With the card you can be kept up-to-date with all the latest news and hear about exclusive offers, promotions and events run at both of these centres and at the Trust's community halls.
Martin Stupples-Surrey (15) from Thamesmead was one of the first 500 people to sign-up for a card and was pleasantly surprised when told his name was selected at random to become the winner of an iPod Touch.
Martin, who attends The Business Academy Bexley, is a member of Archway Project, which is based at The Link. He said that the new accommodation at The Link is much better than what they had before and feels it is more friendly and easier to make new friends since the move.
His mum, Tania, said that Martin has come on leaps and bounds since he joined Archway Project in September 2011.
"It's been the making of him. he has gained in confidence, his attendance at school is so much better and he is now planning to go to Greenwich Community College and looking forward to a career in motor mechanics thanks to what he's learned at the project."
It's easy to sign-up for your free Access Thamesmead card. All you need to do is pop down to The Link Thamesmead in Belvedere Road, off Harrow Manor Way. You will need to take ID with you and proof of address. Under 18's will need to have the application form signed by a parent/guardian.
