Sponsors Needed

Mark Thompson the Chairman of Thamesmead based, Bexley League, Birchmere F.C. is looking for sponsors of the Birchmere Football Cup, a six day football tournament which will be held during next year's summer holidays.

The event will feature 48 teams and more than 1000 children a day playing football.

"One venue that is big enough to hold this many games is Goals in Bexleyheath. It boasts 14 pitches but we need sponsors to come on board to help with costs." said Mark.

“The whole idea behind the event is to get as many kids as possible interested in football and to get as many kids as possible off the streets and enjoying themselves.”

The tournament is open to all five-a-side football teams, be it all boys, all girls or mixed teams, in and around South-east London. The quarter finals will be seven-a-side and teams can submit 16 players in total to take it in turns to take part in a minimum of seven games.

Every player will receive a medal for taking part and the winners will receive a trophy.

Mark added: “I am hoping this will become an annual event.”
