Helping British Soldiers in Afghanistan

One of Thamesmead's over 50's groups did our soldiers proud when they presented guardsmen with 72 shoe boxes full of shower gel, soap, biscuits, etc, to help keep-up morale amongst British soldiers serving in Afghanistan.

The Age Concern Pop in Parlour first heard about the soldiers' plea when member, Johnny Thompson (seen in one of the photos attached) attended his regular Cold Stream Guards meetings where a letter was read out from a Sergeant Major serving in Afghanistan, asking for their support in supplying goods.

Trust Thamesmead's Marketing and Communications Officer said: “It was amazing to see so many boxes brimming to the seams with goodies. I am sure the British soldiers will be blown away by everyone's kindness.

“144kg of goods will be delivered to our soldiers in Afghanistan; it is such an amazing achievement. The Pop in Parlour have done our soldiers proud.”
