Thamesmead Youth Voice Residential

Trust Thamesmead's youth forum Thamesmead Youth Voice travelled to Stubbers Adventure Centre in Essex for a residential weekend last week.

“It was a brilliant weekend,” said Trust Thamesmead's Community Development Manager Janice Songhurst-Jones, “with the young participants positively engaging in five workshops and various outward-bound activities including crate stacking, high ropes and the leap of faith.”

The workshops involved them looking at the support and interest needs on Thamesmead youth and creating a DVD on active positive youth engagement for local youth providers. All the workshops were facilitated by Gess Aird of Kenitic, who has been working with Thamesmead Youth Voice for the past year and had used the young people's feedback from the November residential to inform the successful delivery of this one.

“I was really impressed with the methods she adopted,” Janice added “as they ensured we met all the outcomes, whilst engaging the young people throughout.”

Thamesmead Youth Voice meet 5:30-7:30pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month at Trust Thamesmead, 19a Joyce Dawson Way, Thamesmead Town Centre. Contact Janice for further information: 020 8320 4488.
