Nine year old Charlie Solomon was presented with some fantastic prizes, including a fishing rod and float, by long-standing resident and Gallions Housing Association Board member, Don Tidey last Wednesday (27 Aug).
Charlie, who has been attending Gallions' fishing academy - based at Tump 53 - since May, won the prizes for his dedication to learning the art of angling and for his enthusiasm; he managed to get his two brothers and father involved in the sport making it a real family affair.
Phil Briggs, Gallions Housing Association Neighbourhood Warden, and one of the academy coaches, said: “Charlie has been a pleasure to teach and has picked up angling very quickly. He is a credit to all youngsters who regularly attend the fishing academy”.
Don Tidey said: “Phil and his fellow Wardens are doing a great job made worthwhile by young people like Charlie”.
The Neighbourhood Wardens run free fishing taster sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday from 5pm until 7pm for people of all ages. If you would like to take part, contact Phil Briggs on 0800 83 84 81 or email [email protected]
