Wilkinson's in Thamesmead is set to unveil its brand new-look at 9:00am on Thursday 19 April.
Special guests, Thamesmead residents Margaret Beadle and Carol Kadar, who have both been loyal customers of the Wilkinson store since it opened in the town eight years ago, have been invited to officially re-open the store and cut the ribbon alongside store manager, Andrew Pout.
To celebrate the opening, the first 30 customers through the tills will receive a free gardening themed gift to mark the beginning of the summer gardening season. Staff members will also be hosting a ‘Guess the Name of the Gnome' game throughout the day, to raise money for Wilkinsons' charity of the year, Age UK. One lucky customer who guesses the correct name will win a hamper packed full of gardening products.
Talking about the new look store, Andrew commented: “The team has worked tirelessly over the past few months on the makeover, so we are really looking forward to officially unveiling the store's new image next week.
“Not only will the store have a fresh new layout, creating an all-round better shopping experience, it will also stock an even more exciting range of great value seasonal and everyday products.”
The celebrations will continue on Saturday 21 April when a slow motion athlete statue will perform outside the store from 11am until 2pm. A complimentary face painter will also be transforming children into fun characters, from 10:00am-4:00pm.
