The Good Life Garden in Birchmere Park celebrated its first birthday by holding an event, 11:00am-3:00pm on Saturday 21 April and what an event it was!
Residents had the opportunity to take part in the free interesting and educational activities on offer including building a bird house, a bug habitat and scarecrows, as well as signing up to receive e-newsletters from Sporting Club Thamesmead, The Link Thamesmead and Trust Thamesmead, have their face painted and enjoy the BBQ.
“Although it rained heavily all week not a drop fell throughout the afternoon, but thanks to previous rain the garden looked wonderful,” said Trust Thamesmead's Community Development Officer Linda Delieu, who attended the event alongside London Wildlife Trust and Groundwork London.
“The Good Life Garden and volunteers all worked extremely hard to plan and hold the event and as over 170 people came along all of their hard work paid off.” Linda said, adding: “This was an opportunity for the wider community to see all the effort that the volunteers have put into the garden, not just recently but since last year and especially throughout the winter months. All manner of things are growing there with plans for much more in the pipeline.”
Anyone interested in The Good Life Garden can join other volunteers in Birchmere Park, 10:00am-4:00pm every Thursday.
