Trust Thamesmead in partnership with The Business Academy Bexley, held an event to celebrate International Women's Day on Tuesday 24 April, which saw 19 service providers and more than 200 attendees participate in the activities on offer.
The theme for 2012 was ‘Connecting girls, inspiring futures' and the event aimed to give all the females attending, access to information and advice to enable them to make better choices in life.
“As well as being able to talk to service providers such as Bexley Family Information Service, Trust Thamesmead's training and job search department Building Futures, Sporting Club Thamesmead, The Link Thamesmead and our volunteering team, attendees could take advantage of free first aid demonstrations, massages, eyebrow threading, Tai Chi, Zumba and small sided football with Charlton Athletic Community Trust, to name just a few.” said Trust Thamesmead's Community Development Officer, Linda Delieu.
“Many of the service providers were able to engage with residents that they may not usually see at events as it took place between 5:00-8:00pm. Early feedback from Bexley Community Safety Partnership is that they engaged with more than 70 residents that they might not otherwise have been able to do.”
