The Trust and Groundwork London are holding a Kick-Start Your Business event at the Thames Innovation Centre next month on 8, 10 and 12 May.
It's a free event which offers the chance to hear from inspirational speakers and take part in business seminars and business advice and support workshops.
The focus will be on providing an introduction to running a business in the UK to those who are new to the country but all are welcome to attend with experts will be on hand to give all the advice and support that might be needed for people thinking about setting up their own enterprise.
The event programme is as follows:
Tuesday 8 May - Business Conference: Hear from inspirational speakers, including David McQueen, a businessman, professional speaker and business trainer who has led programmes for Channel 4 and Virgin television; and David Mwanaka, one of only two black agriculturists in the UK. David came over from Zimbabwe in 1991 and has since set up a successful, expanding farming business selling white maize, white sweetcorn and other exotic produce grown within the confines of London. Networking opportunities and refreshments will also be provided.
Thursday 10 May - Breakfast Seminar: Expert Business Trainers from the Thames Innovation Centre will run an hour's workshop to provide you with an introduction to running a business in the UK. This seminar will point you in the right direction for accessing all the support you might need and help you identify all the questions you need to answer to make your business a success. Coffee and pastries will be provided.
Saturday 12 May - All-day Business Event: The Thames Innovation Centre will run workshops all day to give you further advice and support in tackling some of the more complex areas of setting up a new business including: writing a business plan; identifying sources of financial support for establishing your enterprise; marketing (identifying your customers); and understanding UK business law. Groundwork London will also be providing opportunities for you to learn more about bidding for horticultural contracts and making money from growing food. An exhibition will run alongside all day providing opportunities for you to identify further sources of support in establishing your business. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
