Thamesmead Town FC can rank Erith & Thamesmead MP, Teresa Pearce, Bexley Councillor Sandra Bauer and prospective Councillors, Endy Ezenwata, Mabel Ogundayo and Derry Begho as supports, after showing them around their new ground at Sporting Club Thamesmead.
Teresa Pearce MP arrived in a newly Thamesmead Town FC black cab driven by one of the club’s match-day volunteers, Eddie McCann and was presented with a club scarf from club Chairman, Terry Hill.
A club representative said, "It was terrific to see Teresa and Sandra join us for the afternoon - Sandra has been instrumental in helping us looking to establish links with local businesses and the local community, and it was also great to meet the potential next set of Bexley Councillors for the area, as the Club is attempts to become a focal point for all local communities and serve as a central point for the whole of the people of Thamesmead.”
Cllr Bauer commented: "The club is an amazing resource for Thamesmead. Tucked away at the end of Bayliss Avenue, it is easy to miss but I'd encourage anyone to come along. The stand itself has won a prize for quality and there's a real family atmosphere... the football is pretty good too!"
Sporting Club Thamesmead is home to both Thamesmead Town FC and Charlton Athletic Women's Football Club.
