Thamesmead residents voted in their droves for the winning 'Peace Spirals' design which will help to light the Eastern Way footbridge which connects north and south Thamesmead.
The sculpture will act as a striking focal piece for the bridge which has been renamed the Cory Bridge after lead funders, Cory Environmental Trust in Britain, who have provided £100,000 to deliver a range of improvements around the Cory Bridge including the new light sculpture, coloured architectural lighting, painting of the bridge and clearing overgrown vegetation. It is thanks to them and other local agencies who are working in partnership on this project; London Borough of Bexley, Peabody and Trust Thamesmead, that this development can go ahead.
