Hundreds of residents attended our week’s worth of Arts & Culture events across Thamesmead during half-term (27-31 October 2014).
Offering everything from sewing and upcycling, offering residents the chance to learn how to mend or adapt clothes rather than throw them away to cookery workshops and creative writing and local history sessions. A finale celebration event offering food demonstrations, Turkish belly dancing and arts and crafts was also held, giving us the chance to promote the Peabody Group's environmental and regeneration work taking place in Thamesmead. A sneak preview of CADZ Productions (right) Christmas play was also shown.
Trust Thamesmead’s Head of Partnerships and Engagement, Lucy Webb said: “The week was a great success and really demonstrated Thamesmead’s appetite for arts and culture. We hope that this will be the start of a much bigger programme of arts and cultural activities in the area over the months and years to come.”
10-year-old Molly Gill who attended the cookery workshop said: “I really enjoyed making a stir fry. It was really easy and great fun.”
