More than 300 Thamesmead residents benefited from a family fun day which involved everything from healthy eating workshops and lifestyle checks to active taster sessions and a fun family land train.
Trust Thamesmead which is part of the Peabody Group offered the day to help promote the number of activities that take place every day in Thamesmead including those offered by Now’s the Time for just £1, their community centres; The Link Thamesmead and Sporting Club Thamesmead, as well as their training and job search department. A number of partner services offered support too including financial wellbeing with Fair Finance and Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s youth offer from Hawksmoor Youth Centre where this event took place.
Mum, Sue Holdstock pictured with her six-year-old daughter, Lola Holdstock said: “My daughter and I have had a wonderful day. We all loved the land train - actually Lola loved everything I definitely feel motivated to get active after attending today.”
Whilst Bamdele Olawunmi said the following after taking part in Now’s the Time bike hire opportunity which launches from The Link Thamesmead in April: “Bike Hire is a brilliant idea and at just £1.00 it’s a real bargain.”
Peabody’s Executive Director of Community Investment, Stephen Burns said: “Days like today give residents the chance to find out what is available to them on a day and weekly basis. Whether it is taking part in a hobby, meeting other members of their community or gaining support – Thamesmead offers it all and the Peabody Group is at the heart of it.”
