Thamesmead's leading health and fitness programme, Now's the Time recently held a Bike Day on 6 March which more than 100 residents turned up to.
With group skills courses, peddle powered smoothies, a bike market, maintenance master classes and a social ride along the Thames path there was something for everyone.
One lady who attended, Pauline, told us she was too nervous to get on a bike as she hadn't tried to cycle in over 40 years. After a bit of convincing she came back, gave it a go and really enjoyed getting back on two wheels. Pauline is now booked in for a 1-2-1 lesson and is well on her way to riding again.
This is what Now's the Time is all about - giving residents the opportunity to try out activities, hopefully enjoy them and sign up for more. At just £1 per activity taking place at a venue near you, it is hard to say no.
Thamesmead Bike Day was the result of a partnership between Now's the Time, the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Greenwich Leisure Limited.
