Four budding young Thamesmead artists are tops in the eyes of Trust Thamesmead.
They were among dozens of under-12s who took part in a competition to design the Trust's 2005 Christmas card at Holiday Clubs this summer.
It is the first time Trust Thamesmead has held the competition and the judges found the task of choosing just one design impossible - so they chose four instead!
Mick Hayes, the Trust's Chief Executive, explained: “We wanted to inject a real taste of Thamesmead into this year's card and what better way to do that than to ask children from our community for their help? We originally planned to have just one design for this year's card but when we saw the standard of the entries we widened the scope of the competition. This meant that we could have four different great designs printed.”
Not only do the artists' names appear on the winning designs, all four youngsters also received a mega art & craft set and a box of cards featuring their own designs. The Trust also arranged for their original artwork to be framed and these were also presented at a prize-giving event, held at Trust Thamesmead's offices in Joyce Dawson Way.
Overall winner of the competition is Sharifa Issifu (9), who lives in Redbourne Drive. The three runner-ups are Jonilda Rexha (8), Malthus Path; Tyler Szilagyi (6), Manordene Road and Samuel Orisatoki, Booth Close.
