Oh What a Night!

It was a Thamesmead takeover at the Albany Theatre in Deptford as some of the hottest talent around took to the stage for the T Factor showcase.

The evening marked the end of this year's series of Trust Thamesmead T Factor events which began with auditions in February and included live performances by the finalists at the Summer Festival in July.

Organiser Danny Thorpe from the Trust said: "Eleven of the original finalists took part and each and every one of them gave a show-stopping performance. It was amazing to see how confident the finalists had become, particularly some of the younger children who had never done anything like the T Factor before.

"Each performer had the opportunity to perform three songs, including one which had been originally performed by their favourite black artist. There was a real variation in the artists chosen, with performances of songs by Bob Marley through to Usher. The evening really highlighted just how much talent there is in Thamesmead."

These thoughts were echoed by Trust Chair Jackie Smith who said: "Next time you read in the paper that all young people in Thamesmead are out committing crime and causing trouble just think about tonight. We have so many brilliant young people in Thamesmead and we have some of them here tonight. The event also extends the community dimension of the annual Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival, which is a very good thing."
