Matthew Clarke Memorial Shield

Trust Thamesmead is holding the ninth Matthew Clarke Football Tournament on Thursday 27 September at Thamesmead Town Football Club in Bayliss Avenue.

Seven Thamesmead primary schools - Bishop John Robinson, Castilion, Heronsgate, Parkway, St John Fisher and Windrush will be taking on each other as well as last year's winners Hawksmoor in battling it out to become this year's champions.

Trust Thamesmead's Chief Executive Mick Hayes said: “Trust Thamesmead has proudly been arranging and sponsoring the Matthew Clarke Football Tournament since 1999, when former St John Fisher primary school pupil Matthew Clarke sadly lost his battle with cancer.

“Matthew was a huge football fan and we wanted to encourage Thamesmead primary schools to join in an annual celebration and keep his name alive.”

Thank goes to Richard Edward printers who are once again printing the programme for free.
