Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival 2009

The annual Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival is back, with new and old favourites for everyone at the family fun day, which will be taking place 10:00am-6:00pm on Saturday 11 July at Birchmere Park, Thamesmead.

As well as offering top quality music on the main stage, this year's T Factor talent contest final will be taking place, so come along and support your neighbours!

There will also be an Activity Zone featuring an array of Thamesmead community groups and local organisations offering performances on the Community Platform and demos from massages to climbing, majorettes to football and capoeira and various types of dancing.

Then there is the party tent, various community stalls, Greenwich Council's ‘Talk Café', a Children's Zone for under 5s, a film tent and a Water Activity Zone on the Birchmere Lake behind the main stage, where the guys from Thamesmead YMCA Sailing Centre will be offering taster sailing sessions.

We don't just do festivals either! Be sure to visit the Trust Thamesmead tent where you can find out more about us and see for yourself the fantastic multi-million pound projects we will be bringing to Thamesmead in the next couple of years.

And if that wasn't enough, for the first time ever, we will be bringing a farm to the festival that will feature lambs, goats, geese and more available to stroke and touch.

And…the school parade is back! With more than 400 primary school pupils taking part, it will be a carnival to remember. Leaving Hawksmoor Primary School at 9:30am and making their way to the festival park, they will be taking part in a fashion parade on the Community Platform at 10:30am.

• This year Trust Thamesmead set up a steering group for Thamesmead residents and community groups to get involved in this year's festival and have their say in who and what they would like to see, so for the first time, we can really say the people of Thamesmead have some kind of ownership over the event
