Acorn Pre-school's second annual family fun day, Good Choices, proved a hit last Friday, 17 September, with more than 60 people attending the three hour event.
Good Choices is an annual event held at both of Trust Thamesmead's pre-schools; Acorn and Arnott, which is attended by a whole host of service providers, who give parents and residents free advice and guidance regarding healthy living, proving there are choices out there.
As well as Trust Thamesmead's training and job search department attending the day, so did Sporting Club Thamesmead, Greenmead Children's Centre, London Fire Brigade, Citizen Advice Bureau, Immigration Support, Migration Impact Fund, the local dentist, Thamesmead East Safer Neighbourhood Team and Bexley PCT and Bexley Council's Road Safety Team, Bexley Community Safety Partnership and Neighbourhood Watch.
Trust Thamesmead's Community Development Officer Linda Delieu who led the event on behalf of the Trust said: “The day was a great networking opportunity for Trust staff and other agencies, which allowed us to get the good choices message out there, so residents can make changes to benefit their health and well being in different aspects of their lives.”
The Feel Good Coop also attended the day offering free massages and Whipper Snappers led an hour-long song and play regarding eating your five a day, as well as activities including Salsa and limbo dancing.
Linda added: “It was great to see parents interacting with their children.
“More than one service provider said that Thamesmead residents are very fortunate to have the resources of Trust Thamesmead.”
