The Trust Thamesmead and Thamesmead Health and Wellbeing Partnership Forum's World Health Day event took place in Thamesmead Town Centre, 11:00am-3:00pm on Saturday 24 March 2012.
The event was opened by Erith and Thamesmead MP, Teresa Pearce, together with both the Bexley Mayor and Greenwich Mayor, who welcomed everyone to the event which around 300 Thamesmead residents attended, giving them the opportunity to gain information and guidance from 25 information stalls manned by different health service providers from across Bexley and Greenwich boroughs. They also had the opportunity to participate in African drumming and dancing, Tai Chi, Zumba and chair based exercise classes, as well as benefit from free massages, smoothie making bikes, free facing and a human buzz wire.
Trust Thamesmead's Community Development Officer, Emer O'Sullivan said “The day proved really popular with Thamesmead residents; hundreds engaged with health providers and had the opportunity to participate in different activities.”
Trust Thamesmead's Marketing and Communications Officer, Julia Hickson said “It was fantastic that our local MP, Teresa Pearce and Mayor's from both Bexley and Greenwich could attend the day. This together with the attendance of service providers from across Bexley and Greenwich truly demonstrated cross-borough work which can only benefit the residents of Thamesmead.”
