Trust Chief Executive Mick Hayes and Chair Vic Grimes have insisted it is business as usual following the collapse of the company building Sporting Club Thamesmead and The Link Thamesmead.
Last week the Trust was shocked to learn that its main contractor at Sporting Club Thamesmead and The Link Thamesmead, Grehan Constructors Limited (GCL), had gone into administration. However, contingency plans were immediately put in place to ensure that both projects are completed with as little delay as possible.
Mick Hayes said: "Both projects are now so close to completion that we are confident we can manage them to successful completion, however harrowing it might be, and see the doors open to the public at Sporting Club Thamesmead in the spring as planned. Phase 1 at The Link opened in October 2012 and work to complete Phase 2 will resume shortly, again opening before the summer.
"It is, of course, very disappointing that GCL has ceased trading but our Board and staff teams are totally committed to both projects which, when completed, will without doubt have an immediate and positive impact for Thamesmead residents."
See just how close Sporting Club Thamesmead is to completion here and there are lots of photos in The Link's gallery too.
