Thamesmead's flagship fitness programme, Now's the Time, launches a fun new weekly fitness schedule.
Offering residents a broad range of fun and affordable activities, the new fitness schedule includes the latest fitness trend, Clubbercise.
These weekly family-fun classes are taught in a darkened room with disco lighting, lasers and flashing glow sticks, whilst moving to uplifting club anthems ranging from the 90s through to today.
Taking place 5:30 - 6:30pm every Friday at Hawksmoor Youth Centre (Bentham Road, Thamesmead, SE28 8AS), Clubbercise sessions are just £1 per adult and free to under 18s.
The offer is thanks to Now's the Time, a three year partnership project between Trust Thamesmead, Gallions, Peabody, London Borough of Bexley, Royal Borough of Greenwich and Sport England, supported by Charlton Athletic Community Trust.
The project celebrated its first anniversary last year by announcing more than 1500 residents had taken part in more than 8000 hours-worth of £1 fitness activities during its first 12 months of operation.
At the heart of Now's the Time is an affordable and accessible activity programme which has developed in accordance with residents' interest. A wide range of sports and physical activities at a cost of just £1, take part at various community venues across Thamesmead. These are delivered by qualified coaches and instructors and are pitched at an appropriate intensity level for people who have been inactive for some time.
