Many Thamesmead residents will be remembering those who have fought and risked their lives in the name of Queen and country this Armistice Day, Sunday 11 November at a remembrance service taking place 3:00pm at The Atrium, Teeswater Court, Middle Way.
Trust Thamesmead Trustee, Ted Claridge, who fought in war and will be laying a wreath on behalf of the Trust said: “To me 11th November brings into focus the thoughts which crosses my mind during the year of those people I knew in my War 1939-45, who made the supreme sacrifice for people like me to return home.
“Many young men and young WAAFs died, including friends of mine and I often wonder what they would be doing now if, like me, they had lived.
“With love and gratitude I remember them.”
