Four artistic youngsters from schools in Thamesmead have been named as the winners of this year's competition to design Trust Thamesmead's Christmas cards.
Parents, brothers, sisters, school friends and teachers gathered at the Trust's town centre offices on Wednesday 5 December, to see Kayleigh Comber (5), Yasmin Zerouali-Amari (5), Ayo Ogunmefun (7) and Andreas Diwan (11) receive their prizes of art boxes, sets of their own professionally printed cards along with their own beautifully-framed original artwork.
Kayleigh, Yasmin and Ayo all attend Windrush Primary School in Bentham Road, Thamesmead whilst Andreas is a pupil at Woolwich Polytechnic school in Hutchins Road, Thamesmead.
Trust Thamesmead Chief Executive Mick Hayes said: "We were delighted with the response we received. There were more than 100 designs to choose from and the level of talent was very high. We were particularly impressed with the imaginative designs of our four winners, which stood out from the rest.
"I would like to thank everyone who entered a card to the competition. We enjoyed looking at all the entries, it was clear a lot of time and effort went into every single one."
The children received their prizes from Ted Claridge, the Vice-Chairman of the Trust Board of Trustees.
The presentation heralded the start of Trust Thamesmead's Christmas celebrations which also include activities in the Town Centre, a Santa's grotto, a craft making workshop and parties for older residents.
