Strictly for Charity

Gallions Housing Association staff helped raised nearly £2,000 for the Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice last year.

Dance enthusiast Lin Jameson set up lunch time dance classes to help in the effort. Staff were treated to the full range of steps including the fox trot, jive, sexy salsa and quick step and Hospice Chief Executive, Jim Bennett, collected a cheque for the amount raised at Gallions' main office along Harrow Manor Way, Thamesmead last month.

Throughout last year staff also organised quizzes and cake decorating competitions to help raise money. As a result of the success, they will be trying to raise even more money in 2009.

Mr Bennett said: “We are delighted that the staff at Gallions have supported our special work.  Their enthusiasm over the year has raised this excellent amount of money.  The support offered will ensure we can provide our special care when it is needed most. We look forward to working with them again during 2009."

Tony Cotter, Gallions' Chief Executive, said: “Staff were keen to help raise money for a local charity and the Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice fitted the bill perfectly. They need a lot of financial support every year to keep going. The amount staff raised last year, and are aiming to raise this year, will go a long way”.
