Prepare to be dazzled as 3000 sparkling lights wrapped around a 25ft Christmas tree are switched on as part of the Peabody Group's Thamesmead Town Centre Christmas lights switch on, taking place near the clock tower, 4:00-7:00pm on Friday 5 December.
That's not all - you'll get to meet Santa in his grotto, listen to enchanting Christmas storytelling, take part in arts and crafts, entertainment including carols by local primary schools and a fancy dress competition with the chance of winning a £50 shopping voucher (adult) and £25 (child).
Peabody’s Chief Executive, Stephen Howlett said: “The switching on of Christmas lights signals the official start of the festive season. This year we have lots to celebrate as we say goodbye to 2014 and hello 2015 and a new year of opportunities for Thamesmead residents. We look forward to working with the community and shaping the town’s future together, making sure Thamesmead reaches its full potential.”
The tree which will be switched on by Erith & Thamesmead MP, Teresa Pearce, has been donated by the Peabody Group.
