Things are really hotting up in Thamesmead this summer.
From week-long literacy programmes to sports courses, nature and environmental events and a free family fun day with a bonus 30th anniversary international football match thrown in, the Peabody Group is offering it all during the school summer holidays.
Peabody's Executive Director Community Investment, Stephen Burns said: “Thamesmead is a unique part of London. There is a real sense of community and my colleagues help achieve this through the range of projects they support - health and wellbeing activities, literacy and environmental projects, to name a few. All this work helps to create a real sense of belonging and that is why we are supporting a wide range of summer activities. We hope residents will join us and have a great time.”

Free, Fun-Filled Family Learning
Open to parents with children aged between two and five years of age, Trust Thamesmead's week-long Early Words Together summer programmes aim to empower parents to support their child's literacy skills through activities such as reading, singing, nursery rhymes, drawing and crafts.
The Early Words Together is led by Trust Thamesmead in partnership with National Literacy Trust and Save the Children and is part of the Peabody Group's drive to improve literacy during a child's first years of development which can have a significant impact on increasing cognitive abilities and language skills later in life.
The programme is delivered by volunteers who receive free training and support from Trust Thamesmead, to help them identify any additional support families may need. For example employment, training, financial and wellbeing advice or signposting them to the appropriate service providers in Thamesmead.
Summer programmes are happening in four locations across Thamesmead. Find out more by calling us on, T: 020 8320 4470 and asking to speak to our Community Development Officer, Lisa.
